The huge variety of slopes and runs makes Kitzbuehel one of the most popular skiing resorts in the world. The annual spine-chilling Hahnenkamm-Race down the infamous Streif, however, has made Kitzbühel legendary.
168 kilometres perfectly prepared slopes of all degrees of difficulty and 33 km marked skiing routes guarantee full enjoyment for beginners and experts. No matter whether you want to take a shot at the original racing course down the Streif, you enjoy one of the hundreds of challenging fresh powder-runs or you prefer to risk your bones on the jumps of the snow park-Resterhöhe – Kitzbühel offers a world of possibilities for both snowboarders and skiers.
56 modern gondolas and ski lifts (most of them with heated seating) guarantee a pleasant trip to the top of the mountains. The 3S-gondola, which connects the skiing area Kitzbuehel/Aschau/Kirchberg with the skiing area Jochberg/Pass Thurn over the Saukaser valley, is the only one in the world freely levitating over 2000 meters in a height of 4000 meters.
The Horn is a natural paradise, as no artificial snow is used to prepare its runs. Freeskiers and snowboarders who want to practise tricks will most certainly enjoy the small snow park at Hanglalm.
The perfect place for ice-skating and hockey is the Mercedes Benz Sportspark in the centre of town; more idyllic yet, is skating on the very romantic frozen Schwarzsee
For cross-country skiers, there are approximately 500 km of tracks to explore within the area. Since this winter the horn offers a high altitude track where snow is guaranteed at all times. You also might like to try snowshoe hiking, ice climbing or tobogganing. Flood lit skiing and tobogganing extends the fun into the night.
After a great day outdoors, you might want to relax in one of the over 30 wellness oases, which are waiting to spoil you. There are fantastic spas with wonderful pools, like in the Hotel Gran Tirolia, Arosa ort he Royal Spa in Jochberg. For children it is always a lot of fun to visit the indoor adventure pool Aquarena with its great slides. The variety of wellness treatments offered in the area is overwhelming and range from Ayurveda to Hawaiian Lomolomi Nui-massages. Yoga, Fitness checks and training, beauty and anti aging treatments – in fact, there is nothing you won’t find here. Try it out and give your body a soothing break.
An infinite number of restaurants, mountain lodges and cafes are waiting to be discovered by you. Kitzbuehel has a worldwide reputation for it’s amazing cuisine. Whether you prefer traditional Tyrolean specialities, fancy 5-course menus or gourmet food prepared by famous star cooks, you’ll find it all in and around Kitzbühel. Boasting eight toque awarded restaurants, Kitzbuehel is the region with the highest density of gourmet restaurants in all of Tyrol.
